The Entrepreneur is an account of a Pune-based businessman and entrepreneur Mr Sharad Tandale, who is the author himself, wrote this book within the larger framework of the ever-increasing universe of self-help books. This book takes the readers out of that frame enough to completely change the purpose and intent of such books. While many books might try to sell you success and prosperity, the author’s account of his journey is a guidebook through the dangers and risks of the world of the enterprise and only then does it talk of success. The author chronicles his 10 years as an aspirational youth, much like many others over the last decade or more, who have had the spark of entrepreneurship ignite within them and then soon after extinguished by the severe and steep struggle that one has to go in conditions like those in India.

He records himself with honesty, a quality missing from many of the ‘popular’ self-help books. His honesty is a reflection of his desires, aspirations and the decisions he took. The way he failed, and the mistakes he made, make this book connect with you on a personal level. It feels like your own story. What the author’s book does even more differently than the market-saturating guidebooks is to keep everything in perspective. Every mistake, every dream, every achievement and every reward, is seen in the context of the sacrifices and hardships that he had to go through to achieve them, the street smart wit he had to keep and the sheer risk embedded within the structure of businesses.

In a way, the author brings realism to success. This book is a refreshing breath of fresh air in a market with books that feed you dreams, aspirations and almost formulaic solutions and pathways to achieve them. The Entrepreneur, makes the reader realize that entrepreneurship is not a fairy tale of success.

The Entrepreneur by author Sharad Tandale is a magnificent self-help book which illustrates the art and strategies to be a good business person. The book begins with a tribute to Mr APJ Abdul Kalam who is credited with igniting a million dreams in the youth of our nation. The author has shared his inspirational journey of becoming an Entrepreneur through the ups and downs of his own professional life.
The author has given the readers the basic knowledge about what being an entrepreneur actually entails and has also provided inputs on what all things happen and how to face them with determination whilst we embark on the journey to entrepreneurial success. He has described his experience straightforwardly.
The narrative style also makes it interesting while learning life lessons. If you are really into the business field, then kick start your day with some pages from the book and you will find a lot of ways that will guide you towards your startups and other matters.

I am an aspiring businesswoman who has always been surrounded by an environment full of men and their chauvinism. The seeds of entrepreneurship were sowed in me in my early childhood days and I am on my way to making it come true.
    I wish someday I could be a part of Forbs 30 under 30. 🙂

So enough about me, what this book made me feel and the author made me feel can be summed up in a single dialogue I happened to bump on, from a web series,
“Na upper class ko farak padta hai, na lower class ko, farak bas middle class ko padta hai, aur wo hum hi hai jo farak la sakte hai”.
The book appropriately tells the tale of a small town, but determined guy who successfully established his business from a scratch in Pune and not just established but happened to even receive the Young Entrepreneurs Award in 2013 from the Crown Prince of England.
With a solid background, I expected more out of the book, but I believe this was made for millennials to relate to and I’m more of like an elder millennial (if you have at all watched the elder millennial on Netflix).
The contents of this book are neatly arranged and can be picked by the corporate or non-corporate public regardless.
Narration I would say was average but the cover is top-notch, Kudos to the designer.
Also, keep penning these tales of inspiration, we need such people to look up to.

Have you ever thought of being an entrepreneur? Would you like to try this out?
Every mistake, dream, achievement and reward is seen in the context of the sacrifices and hardships that the author had to go through to achieve them, the street smart wit he had to keep and the sheer risk embedded within the structure of businesses. In a way, the author brings realism to success. I was fortunate enough that I discovered this book at the right time, I was going through a phase where I needed the ‘WHY’ to understand a lot of things and this book thoroughly helped me out in all possible ways. This non-fictional read proved to be one of the most relevant and fast-paced reads where the author who himself is a businessman and an inspiration to a lot of people has provided a new perspective about my own life. It’s divided into short chapters. In each chapter, he talks about something that matters.
He talks about the initial phase of his student life. I feel it’s very raw and very original. I belong to the same city Aurangabad where he started his life after his as a student. The fact that the author is very honest and is trying to convey a lot of positivity through his writing is extremely beautiful and heartfelt.
It’s a simple yet very constructive read. It’s something that’s not just for budding entrepreneurs but students and for everyone who has a dream. It’s very well presented and I liked how easy it is in terms of writing so anyone and everyone can read it. I will recommend it because on every page you will find a quote that’s life-changing.

“Winners never quit and quitters never win” this quote is completely justified by the author of the book, Sharad Tandale. He has divided the book into 12 chapters as the 12 months of the beginning of the new life. How each month of life progresses to another stage and how growth constantly attracts it.
The author has articulated his journey in many ways. From following a rat race to being a mentor, from job to struggle, from inspiration to startup, from entrepreneur to aspiration, from workload to boss, from vision to finally passion. The author has narrated each stage in simple plain English that is easily understandable.
The book is not any motivational book or some autobiography but it is a compact journey of himself and all the things one needs to do and don’t in order to reach where he wants to go.
With the telecast of the show Shark Tank, there is a buzz around and this decade has already been named the decade of Entrepreneurs. So those aspiring young unicorns must keep this book on their shelves and heart. The author has beautifully designed each chapter as to how a Mechanical Engineering guy turned into a successful Contractor and what challenges he faced, how just 20000 rupees turned into lakhs. It was not done by magic but by sheer hard work and teamwork.
You can’t be an entrepreneur alone if you don’t value your team. Your team is the reason you became the Shark of the Era.
A few of my favourite lines are –
When all you see ahead in life is darkness, you cannot escape the negative thoughts…
Nobody has the time to understand your depression in this world. People only understand success here.
Depression and failure have no friends. Books can be your closest friends in the low phase of your life.
If you want to be an eagle, spend your time with eagles.
The dark horse is the horse who does not run to defeat the other horses but to prove his capacities.
If you keep fighting the life you set out for, one day you will get recognised for sure…

Being mindful of pace and utilizing a free-flowing writing style, the author easily captures the readers’ attention. It’s the title in actual which made me proceed towards the book and check it out in the first case as it took me a few difficult days of life to understand the bits and pieces of literature. However, the audience’s focus is undoubtedly held by the depth of each phase of the book provided. There is not a single cookie-cutter, stereotypical thing in this novel. All of them are inclined to their very own way, be it the facts, the outbreak or how things were connected to the author himself. Author Sharad, in the book, has explained the terms which exist over the cover page in the simplest format. A descriptive read to opt-in for with length is easily acceptable. Although I did feel that the pace at times, fell apart which could have been avoided. Thank you. Happy Reading.
